Request Explanation:

I wanted to investigate the many instances in which a child social worker, or family social worker is internally investigated for misconduct. I haven’t read many published reports on this topic, so reaching for content that was entirely new to me was something I was striving for. Friends and family of mine have been connected with different agencies and heard the different perspectives from the child, the family, and the social workers themselves. I am hoping to further develop my research skills and learn about what goes on behind closed doors. Through research I have found that there are various ways of communication that a social worker may choose to use, especially depending on the age of the child. Seeing as some circumstances put social workers and counsellors in difficult or potentially harmful situations, is there lines a social worker can cross due to personal morals. Is this breaking ‘social worker standards’?

I am looking forward to potentially creating a blog post that publically addresses the topic of social worker etiquette in British Columbia!

  1. I really like how your links at the end of your post are embedded with the full headline! The only thing I would point out is that your source topics seem to be a bit widespread, and it's a bit hard to see how you came to the final topic idea that you did.

  2. Your idea is very interesting and original. The way you’ve written about it shows that you are excited to uncover more. I think you did a great job with the request and the explanation, the only thing I wish you would’ve done to make it better is maybe use one of the cases (like the first one) as an example in your explanation to make it clearer.

  3. Hi Sophie

I really like your post and believe that your request is really helpful to you to critically evaluate social workers. I think if I do this request I will only ask for 2 year data as 5 year period is very long.
